The Gymboree Corporation Announces Second Quarter Sales
San Francisco, Calif., August 9, 2007 - The Gymboree Corporation (NASDAQ: GYMB) reported net sales from retail operations for the thirteen-week period ended August 4, 2007, of $179.9 million, an increase of 20% compared to net sales from continuing retail operations of $149.6 million for the second fiscal quarter of the prior year. Comparable store sales for the second fiscal quarter increased 5% compared to a 12% increase in comparable store sales for the second quarter of fiscal 2006.
For the quarter, the Company continues to expect income from continuing operations to be in the range of $0.13 to $0.15 per diluted share.
The Company also announced that it opened its first Crazy 8 store in the Serramonte Shopping Center located in Daly City, California on Friday, August 3, 2007. The Company has signed eight additional leases to support the opening of Crazy 8 stores in the following locations:
