STANDARD AND POOR’S UPGRADES DPL TO INVESTMENT GRADE
DAYTON, Ohio, February 5, 2007 — Standard and Poor’s (S&P) today announced an upgrade to the corporate credit ratings of DPL Inc. (NYSE: DPL) and its principal subsidiary, The Dayton Power and Light Company (DP&L), two notches to investment grade. The corporate credit ratings of both entities moved from BB+ to BBB.
“We are very pleased with today’s announcement,” said Paul Barbas, DPL President and Chief Executive Officer. “It is a positive reflection on the strategic and financial actions that we have undertaken during the past several years to solidify our balance sheet, improve our credit profile, strengthen corporate governance and reduce risk.”
S&P also raised its ratings two notches on all the debt ratings of both DPL and DP&L, except for the rating on DP&L’s first mortgage bonds, which were raised one notch to BBB+. S&P’s outlook for DPL and DP&L is stable.
