Statement from Level 3 Communications
BROOMFIELD, Colo., August 8, 2007 - The following statement can be attributed to James Q. Crowe, chief executive officer of Level 3 Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ:LVLT).
“During a routine physical examination, my physician discovered a tumor of the pituitary gland. I have been advised that the tumor is almost certainly benign, and that it does not have a negative effect on my ability to conduct my usual business affairs.
“However, if left untreated, this condition could have significant, adverse, long-term health consequences. Therefore, surgical removal is recommended. The procedure is safe and successfully resolves the condition in most cases. In the event surgery is not completely successful, additional treatments are available including medications and radiotherapy.
“I expect to continue my usual business schedule until the surgery, which is anticipated to occur in the last week of August. I plan to resume that schedule after a two to three week recovery period.
“I look forward to a quick recovery and getting back to work. Thank you for your continued support.”
