INDEPENDENT CONTRACT PRODUCER NOTE
To our valued partner –
I am writing to let you know about an important development for Sanderson Farms.
We have announced that Cargill and Continental Grain, two leading agricultural and poultry production companies, have entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Sanderson Farms. We are proud to be joining with Cargill and Continental Grain, two companies with track records of success in agriculture and meat processing.
Both Cargill and Continental Grain understand and know our business. Cargill has expertise across the agriculture and chicken producing arena, both in the United States and around the world. Continental Grain is an owner and operator of food and agribusiness companies including Wayne Farms, an experienced U.S. poultry firm. Both Cargill and Continental Grain appreciate the important role that independent contract poultry producers play in the marketplace.
We recognize that our success over seven decades was fueled by our strong network of independent producers like you, and we are confident we will continue to succeed together. The combined company is committed to supporting independent producers, their family farms, livelihoods and the communities in which they live.
We are very proud of what Sanderson Farms has accomplished over our 75-year history. What began as a small family supply store grew into a thriving, best-in-class poultry producer. We couldn’t have achieved this success without your support and partnership.
On behalf of my entire family and the Sanderson Farms team, I want to say thank you. Having started my career in the chicken business working in live production as a teenager, I know well the investment of time, money, sweat and, yes, even tears, required to be a successful poultry producer. While I don’t know you all personally as I once did, I am well aware of the commitment and sacrifice you make every single day to help make Sanderson Farms one of the most successful agribusiness companies in the world. We are grateful for our partnership, and we look forward to continuing to work together to provide the best chicken products in America to our customers.
If you have any questions, please ask your serviceperson and we will do our best to get you an answer quickly.
Sincerely,
Joe Sanderson
