On January 27, 2009, Provident Bankshares Corporation announced its financial results for the quarter and fiscal year ended December 31, 2008. The press release announcing financial results for the quarter and fiscal year ended December 31, 2008 is attached as Exhibit 99.1 and incorporated herein by reference.
On January 27, 2009, in conjunction with its earnings release, Provident Bankshares Corporation is making available supplemental financial information regarding the Company. The supplemental financial information is also being posted on the Company’s website atwww.provbank.com. The supplemental financial information includes a comparative analysis of average balances and changes in tax equivalent net interest income and asset quality detail for the covered periods. Also included in the supplemental financial information are the Company’s unaudited Consolidated Statement of Income for the three and twelve months ended December 31, 2008 and 2007 and the unaudited Consolidated Statement of Condition as of December 31, 2008 and 2007. The supplemental financial information is filed as Exhibit 99.2 and incorporated herein by reference.
