Item 8.01 Other Events
On June 1, 2010, Walter Energy, Inc. (the “Company”) issued a press release announcing the completion of the acquisition of HighMount Exploration & Production, LLC’s Alabama natural gas assets for approximately $210 million in cash. These natural gas assets are located adjacent to the Company’s current underground mining and coal bed methane operations. A copy of the press release announcing the completion of the acquisition is attached hereto as Exhibit 99.1.
