In connection with the Annual Report of Vulcan International Corporation on Form 10-K for the period ending December 31, 2004, as filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission on the date hereof (the "Report"), I, Benjamin Gettler, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Vulcan International Corporation, certify, that:

Based on my knowledge, this annual report does not contain any untrue statement of a material fact or omit to state a material fact necessary to make the statements made, in light of the circumstances under which such statements were made, not misleading with respect to the period covered by this report;
