Attached as Exhibit 99.1, and incorporated herein by reference, is a copy of the press release issued by MAF Bancorp, Inc. on January 12, 2006, announcing that the Office of Thrift Supervision has approved its application to acquire EFC Bancorp, Inc. As previously announced, the Company expects the transaction to close at the end of January.
