Item 12. Results of Operations and Financial Condition
On April 27, 2004, Jones Apparel Group, Inc. issued a press release describing its results of operations for the fiscal quarter ended April 3, 2004, as well as the following:
- announcing that the company owned retail business registered a comparable store sales increase of 13%;
- announcing that the launch of theJones New York Signature product line continues to gain positive momentum;
- announcing the repurchase of $34.5 million in Common Stock during the fiscal quarter;
- increasing prior guidance for 2004 full year earnings to a range of $2.68 to $2.80; and
- announcing a regular quarterly cash dividend of $.08 per share.
