 | ICA Awarded 30-Year Concession to Build and Operate the Palmillas-Apaseo El Grande Tollroad |
Mexico City, November 7, 2012—Empresas ICA, S.A.B. de C.V. (BMV and NYSE: ICA), the largest engineering, construction, procurement and infrastructure company in Mexico, announced that it had been awarded the 30-year concession for the Palmillas - Apaseo El Grande tollroad by the Ministry of Communications and Transportation (SCT). The project was awarded through an international bidding process. The contract is estimated to be signed in February 2013.
The construction amount – approximately Ps. 5,313 million – will be included in ICA’s backlog once the contracts are signed.
The 86 km, 4-lane, high specification tollroad in the states of Querétaro and Guanajuato will create a new link between the Mexico City metropolitan region, the Bajio region, and the North. The highway will provide a bypass around the city of Queretaro and reduce congestion, while also improve environmental and highway safety conditions. The new tollroad will also link to the highways operated by ICA’s affiliate, Red de Carreteras de Occidente. The project includes 9 interchanges, construction of 15 major bridges, and 29 vehicular overpasses and underpasses.
The concession to construct, operate, exploit, conserve and maintain the highway has a total value estimated at approximately Ps. 9,630 million.
