On February 8, 2006, NPS Pharmaceuticals issued a press release announcing the extension of its strategic alliance with AstraZeneca to discover, develop and market new drugs targeting metabotropic glutamate receptors (mGluRs) for the treatment of various central nervous system and gastrointestinal disorders. A copy of the press release is attached hereto as Exhibit 99.1 and incorporated herein by reference.
