Section 8 - Other Events
Item 8.01 - Other Events
On November 26, 2008, the Environmental Protection Agency (“EPA”) Region 4 issued a permit to the Company’s Diversified Scientific Services, Inc. (“DSSI”) subsidiary located in Kingston, Tennessee to commercially store and dispose of radioactive Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs).
In 2004, DSSI began the permitting process to add Toxic Substances Control Act (“TSCA”) regulated wastes, namely PCBs, containing radioactive constituents to its authorization in order to meet the demand for the treatment of government and commercially generated radioactive PCB wastes. Currently, we are unaware of any other authorized commercial facilities permitted to destroy radioactive PCB wastes.
