On February 28, 2006, the Board of Directors (the “Board”) of Schnitzer Steel Industries, Inc. (the “Company”) increased the number of directors on the Board from ten to eleven and elected William D. Larsson as a director of the Company. Mr. Larsson’s membership on any committee of the Board was not determined as of February 28, 2006. This amendment to the Company’s Current Report on Form 8-K filed on March 3, 2006 is to report that it has been determined that Mr. Larsson will be a member of the Board's audit committee.
