Item 8.01 Other Events.
On June 12, 2012, Glimcher Realty Trust (the “Registrant”) announced plans to acquire the Lessee's ground leasehold interest in Malibu Lumber Yard, an outdoor retail center located in Malibu, California. The fee owner of the center is the City of Malibu. The purchase price for the ground lease and improvements will be approximately $35.5 million and is expected to close later this month subject to customary closing conditions. The term of the ground lease expires February 28, 2047, and has three extension options for five (5) years each. A copy of the press release announcing the transaction is attached as Exhibit 99.1 to this Current Report on Form 8-K and incorporated by reference herein.
