On May 18, 2012, Calpine Corporation (the “Company”) and Alliant Energy (“Alliant”) issued a press release announcing that Alliant has exercised their option to purchase Riverside Energy Center, LLC which owns the Company's approximately 600 MW Riverside Energy Center, a natural gas-fired, combined-cycle power plant located in Beloit, WI, for approximately $392 million. The sale is expected to close in December 2012 and is subject to federal regulatory approval. A copy of the press release is being furnished as Exhibit 99.1.
