MidAmerican Energy Company is offering $ aggregate principal amount of its 3.65% first mortgage bonds due 2029, which we refer to as the “2029 First Mortgage Bonds,” and $ aggregate principal amount of its % first mortgage bonds due 2050, which we refer to as the “2050 First Mortgage Bonds” and, together with the 2029 First Mortgage Bonds, as the “First Mortgage Bonds.” On January 9, 2019, we issued $600,000,000 aggregate principal amount of our 3.65% First Mortgage Bonds due 2029 (the “existing 2029 First Mortgage Bonds”). The 2029 First Mortgage Bonds offered hereby will be consolidated with, and form part of the same series as the existing 2029 First Mortgage Bonds. Upon issuance of the 2029 First Mortgage Bonds offered hereby, the aggregate principal amount of outstanding 3.65% First Mortgage Bonds due 2029 will be $ .
Interest is payable on the 2029 First Mortgage Bonds semi-annually on April 15 and October 15 of each year, beginning on April 15, 2020. Interest is payable on the 2050 First Mortgage Bonds semi-annually on April 15 and October 15 of each year, beginning on April 15, 2020. We may at our option redeem the First Mortgage Bonds of either series, in whole at any time or in part from time to time, before maturity at the applicable redemption price as set forth in this prospectus supplement under “Supplemental Description of First Mortgage Bonds—Optional Redemption.”
Each series of the First Mortgage Bonds will be direct, senior secured obligations of ours and will be secured equally and ratably with all of our other first mortgage bonds from time to time outstanding and with our currently outstanding senior notes. Each series of the First Mortgage Bonds will be issued only in registered form in denominations of $2,000 and integral multiples of $1,000 in excess thereof.
