Item 8.01. Other Events
OGE Energy Corp. (the "Company") is the parent company of Oklahoma Gas and Electric Company, a regulated electric utility with approximately 858,000 customers in Oklahoma and western Arkansas. In addition, the Company holds a 25.5 percent limited partner interest and a 50 percent general partner interest in Enable Midstream Partners, LP.
The following is an additional risk factor the Company has deemed necessary for disclosure in response to the developing novel Coronavirus situation and should be read in conjunction with "Item 1A. Risk Factors" in the Company's 2019 Form 10-K.
We face risks related to health epidemics and other outbreaks.
The recent outbreak of the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) is a rapidly developing situation around the globe that has adversely impacted economic activity and conditions worldwide. In particular, efforts to control the spread of COVID-19 have led to shutdowns of various facilities as well as disrupted supply chains around the world. The extent of such impact on our operations is unknown at this time. We are continuing to monitor developments involving our workforce, customers and suppliers and cannot predict whether COVID-19 will have a material impact on our results of operations, financial condition and prospects. However, an extended slowdown of the United States' economic growth, demand for commodities and/or material changes in governmental policy could result in lower economic growth and lower demand for electricity in our key markets as well as the ability of various customers, contractors, suppliers and other business partners to fulfill their obligations, which could have a material adverse effect on our results of operations, financial condition and prospects.
