Exhibit 99.3
March 9, 2015
Colleagues,
TodayAlcoa signed a definitive agreement to acquire RTI International Metals. RTI is a global leader in titanium products as well as titanium-based value add solutions, and has a strong foothold in the aerospace industry. This acquisition allows us to further expand our range of mid- and downstream titanium offerings to better support our customers.
Let me share with you a few exciting aspects of this transaction:
Titanium is the world’s fastest-growing aerospace metal. Many next-generation aircraft will have significantly more titanium than their predecessors. And, the aerospace market is expected to grow 5-6% annually through 2019. With this acquisition, Alcoa will be even better positioned than we already are today to capture some of this growth.
We’re growing Alcoa’s process and product innovation leadership.RTI also offers advanced manufacturing technologies. This will enable us to produce some of the largest, most complex aerospace parts as well as medical and oil and gas components. We will be combining Alcoa’s advanced manufacturing initiatives and our industry leadership in metallurgy with RTI’s sophisticated 3-D printing capabilities and their cutting-edge materials, such as titanium-aluminides that are increasingly important in manufacturing lightweight and aerodynamic jet engine parts.
Expanding Alcoa’s value-add portfolio is driving profitable growth. RTI will increase Alcoa’s aerospace revenues to 37% of value-add sales, making what is already the largest contributor to Alcoa’s value-add portfolio even bigger. By 2019, RTI is projected to contribute $1.2 billion in revenues and reach profitability of 25 percent EBIDTA margin, up from 14.5 percent in 2014. With approximately 65 percent of RTI’s projected revenues over the next five years supported by contracts, RTI is on a solid growth path.
We plan to begin building on those many benefits for Alcoa and RTI as soon as our acquisition receives government and regulatory approvals, which we expect in the next three to six months. This is another good step in the right direction as we are building out our value add businesses while at the same time making our commodities businesses more competitive.
All the best,
Klaus
