McMoRan Exploration Co. issued a press release, dated January 11, 2010, announcing a major discovery at the Davy Jones ultra-deep well in shallow water on the shelf of the Gulf of Mexico. The press release is attached hereto as Exhibit 99.1. McMoRan held a conference call, broadcast on the internet on January 11, 2010 at 12:00 p.m. Eastern Time, regarding the Davy Jones ultra-deep well discovery.
