ITEM 8.01. OTHER EVENTS
On October 13, 2004, Navistar International Corporation (the company) received a request from the staff of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to voluntarily produce certain documents and information related to our accounting practices with respect to defined benefit pension plans and other postretirement benefits. The company intends to fully cooperate with this request.
