Item 7.01 Regulation FD Disclosure.
On August 9, 2006 Sigma-Aldrich issued a press release indicating the Board of Directors authorized a five million share increase in the share repurchase authorization which brings the total authorized to 45 million shares. The Company has purchased 39.3 million shares of its stock since beginning the program in late 1999. This press release is furnished as Exhibit 99.1.
