Item 2.01 Completion of Acquisition or Disposition of Assets.
On October 9, 2006 Sigma-Aldrich issued a press release announcing its acquisition of Advanced Separation Technologies Inc. (Astec), a chiral chromatography business located in Whippany, NJ. The addition of Astec will enhance Sigma-Aldrich’s Research Specialties business unit’s chiral chromatography capabilities and product line. Terms of the purchase were not disclosed. This press release is furnished as Exhibit 99.1.
