CMHC’s forward-looking statements are based on a series of projections and estimates regarding the world-wide economy in general and on the Canadian economy in particular. On April 10, 2024, the Bank of Canada announced that it would hold its overnight interest rate steady at 5.00% and would continue its policy of quantitative tightening. Continuing to maintain elevated interest rates may depress growth and demand in the Canadian housing market and may cause our actual results to differ from our projections.
